Our client, a well-established law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate to join their Private Client team in Cambridge due to an upcoming retirement. Responsibilities

  • Estate Planning: Provide bespoke estate planning advice to mid to high-net-worth clients.
  • Will Preparation: Prepare complex wills tailored to the needs of mid to high-net-worth clients.
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney: Prepare and manage Lasting Powers of Attorney for clients.
  • Estate Administration: Handle the administration of both taxable and non-taxable estates.
  • Trust Documentation: Draft trust documentation, including settlements, resolutions, and deeds necessary for administering settlements.
  • Taxation and Compliance: Advise executors and trustees on taxation, compliance, and reporting requirements for estates and trusts, including the preparation of IHT100s and IHT400s.
  • Trustee Guidance: Provide guidance to trustees on their duties, obligations, and powers according to settlements, statutes, or case law.
  • Business Succession Planning: Offer business succession planning services to business owners, including sole traders, partners, and shareholders.
  • Team Support: Provide support and advice to team members on complex matters, particularly trusts, taxation, and estate planning.
  • Networking: Attend networking events to build the firm’s reputation and develop professional connections.


Requirements

  • Experience: 8+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) or equivalent experience.
  • Tax Preparation: Experience preparing self-assessment tax returns.
  • Professional Membership: SFE and/or STEP membership is desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, outgoing, and proactive.
  • Professional demeanor, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
